This spring marks a major milestone: Yorktel’s 40th anniversary. A lot has changed since Dr. York Wang founded York Telecom Corporation (dba Yorktel) in 1985, but one thing has remained the same: our purpose to connect, empower, and evolve the way people work and communicate.
Forty years ago, Yorktel brought the future of visual communications to life. Today, we’re enabling organizations worldwide to thrive in the era of hybrid work, unified collaboration, and intelligent infrastructure.

Pioneers Since the Beginning
Early on, Yorktel helped launch one of the first large videoconferencing networks of the US Government, the Federal Telecommunications Services 2000 (FTS2000).
Soon after, we were entrusted with designing, installing, and staffing the Department of Defense Information Systems Agency’s global warfighting system, which is a mission-critical initiative that helped shape our company’s DNA.
By the end of our first decade, Yorktel had deployed over 1,000 full-scale executive-level conference facilities and pioneered a new service model: Managed Services for video communications.
This evolution was born from the understanding that great technology needs equally great support to drive long-term success.
What started with federal agencies quickly expanded into the commercial world.
